Warranty / Care Plans

Manage the extend warranty and care plans offers that customer need to pay extra for extended warranty/cares

Overview

These are additional/extended protection plans that can be offered to your customers during Cart or Product page.

The warranty / care plans in here is similar to the Apple Care+ that Apple offer, when you bought it, it will extend the warranty for your Apple product.

Customers need to pay extra for the warranty plan created in here, this is different from the free or mandatory warranty by the government (e.g in European union all electric appliances are mandatory to have 2 years warranty)

If there are free or mandatory warranty setup for a product and the customer also bought the warranty plan in here, then the product will get Extended warranty

Goal

After the warranty plan is setup, it will able to accomplish the following

  • Customer bought a product A and a warranty / care plan product, the product A will get automatically registered and have configurable amount of warranty.

  • Customer bought a warranty / care plan product, it will automatically and retrospectively apply the warranty to their existing registrations based on the criteria and grace period will apply to.

  • Customer bought a warranty / care plan product, then a few days later register a product , this product will be the extended warranty from the warranty / care plan product

Requirements

To make the warranty plan working, you will need the following

Create warranty / care plan product is to create a regular product that allow you to control the price, product name descriptions etc

Setup the auto registration allow the app to automatically register products.

Make sure the requirements are setup before create a new warranty.

Create a new warranty plan

Go to App admin > Warranty / Care Plans > Create warranty plan

This is the warranty plan product that will be selling to the customer

Then choose the products this warranty plan will be covered

Then the configuration

Warranty duration

This is the months will extend the applicable product when the customer bought the warranty plan.

Usage limit per customer

Once the customer bought the warranty plan, how many time it can apply to the applicable product

Grace period

Number of days to retroactively apply warranty to previously registered products.

e.g if the customer bought a iPhone yesterday, then today or later on bought the warranty plan product, if the warranty have grace period of 2 days, then when the customer bought the warranty plan product, it will restrospectively apply the warranty to the registrations from last 2 day. It will means if the iPhone bought yesterday will be covered if the warranty is bought today

If the warranty plan product have multiple options e.g 1 year, 2 years and 3 years cares, then you will need to create 3 separate warranty for it

Once the warranty is setup, the warranty plan product need to be visible to customer to buy, follow the cross-sale for more detail

After the warranty plan is created, its possible to see all the customers who bought the warranty plan and their order information, plus the registrations the warranty plan applied to
